New trash cans:
Q- When are the new containers going to be delivered?
  A: The new trash cans are going to be delivered between week of March 21st and ending with the week of  March 28th .
 
Q- What color is the trash can?
 A: Blue.
 
Q- What color is the recycle can?
 A: Green
 
Q- When should I start using my new trash cans?
 A: As soon as you get it.

Q- Do the residents pay for this new containers?
 A: NO, the containers are the property of Allied Waste.
 
Q- What do I do with my old trash can?
 A: If you place it at the curb and write 'please take' on it will go to the landfill.

Q- What happens if the containers get damaged?
 A: TBD

Q-What size are the new containers?
  A: The standard trash container is 95 gallons and the standard recycling container is 65 gallons.

Q-Are there other size options ?
  A: YES, after you received the standard size container you can call Allied Waste and request a smaller ( 65 gallon) container.

Q-Can we ask for an additional recycling container?
 A: YES, call Allied Waste and request an additional Recycling Container 440-458-5191 or 1-800-433-1309
 

Recycle:
Q- Are the blue bags still required for recycling?
 A: NO, residents don’t need to bag  the items that go in the recycling bin.

Q- Are the residents required to separate the materials that go in the recycling container?
 A: NO.

Q- How do residents now what can be recycled?alt
 A: Look for a triangle on the bottom of the container you want to recycle.
 

Q- What CAN residents recycle in the new containers?
   A: GLASS  : jars, bottles- cleaned and metal/plastic lids removed
        METAL  : food cans , soda cans  and metal jar lids-cleaned
        PLASTIC: # 1 and #2
        PAPER: newspapers, magazines, junk mail,
        WRAPPING PAPER
        CARDBOARD: including cereal boxes and clean pizza poxes,
        GIFT BOXES
      
     
Q-What can NOT be recycled?
   A: Any container that is contaminated with materials like: motor oil, pesticides, antifreeze.

Q- Can residents recycle plastics #3 trough #7?
 A: NO, not for now but it will be possible in the near future.

Recycle Bank:
Q- What is the Recycle bank program?
  A: Recycle Bank is a rewards program that allows residents that recycle to earn points and discounts at local and national merchants.

Q- Do residents need to register with the Recycle Bank?
  A: YES, residents need to register at www.recyclebank.com in order to earn the points and discounts.

Q- How can the company keep track of the recycling program?
 A: Every recycling bin has a number that is scanned every time residents put their recycling container out for pick up and the recycling will be weighted at the drop off.  

Q - Do they use our information from the cans for other things.
  A: No, they only use the information to see if you recycled that week.

Large Item Pick Up:
Q- What can I do with my larger items that do not fit in the can?
  A: Re-purposing or donating are great ways deal with items that don’t fit. Please visit PASS IT ON for more details.

Q- Will large items still be picked up at the curve?
 A: YES, large items like broken appliances or furniture will be picked up ONCE A MONTH- on the first week on the month that starts with a Monday.

Yard waste
Q-What are the dates for yard waste collection?
  A: Yard waste collection goes from April 1st and November 30th.

Q-Where is the yard waste going?
  A: Yard waste (brown bags and un-bagged small branches in bundles) is taken to a composting facility in Avon.

Q-What happens with leaves collected in plastic bags?
 A: Between last week of October and last week of November, plastic bags will be collected but they will be taken to the land field.
